Our Belgian blue stone is one of the most sustainable materials on Earth. This ancient stone, formed over millions of years, is quarried locally using environmentally friendly methods. Combined with short transport distances, this significantly reduces the ecological footprint.

This park is one of the largest solar power facilities in the region and underscores our commitment to renewable energy and environmentally friendly production.
Renier collects rainwater in a completely separate system and stores it for reuse, which means we hardly use any municipal water anymore. All process water is discharged separately to our settling tank, where it is purified through sedimentation.
The water is then clean enough to be reused in our production process.
As a result, we do not need to discharge process water, and we significantly reduce our use of groundwater.
All excess natural stone is stored separately and crushed for recycling in water or road construction.
So they are never dumped.
The limestone dust that has settled to the bottom of the settling tank is further dewatered in a filter press and collected separately.
The sludge is then used as a soil amendment in agriculture. Therefore, the sludge is never sent to a landfill.
By working with local quarries, Renier reduces transportation. At the Aarschot site, a large solar panel farm generates more than 60 % of energy, and rainwater is collected and recycled in the production process.
Process water is treated and reused; crushed stone and sawdust are used in road construction; and sludge is converted into a soil conditioner for agriculture. This ensures that nothing is wasted and that raw materials are utilized to the fullest extent possible.
Scrap stone is recycled as foundation material for road surfaces and driveways. The slurry produced during sawing and polishing is compressed and processed into agricultural fertilizer.
Blue stone is a natural product with an extremely long lifespan. Because the stone is quarried locally, transportation distances are short. The material requires little maintenance, is resistant to frost and wear, and can be reused after decades.
