An authentic family business

Renier Natural Stone is a fourth-generation family business, founded in 1913 by Francois Renier. He had the opportunity to participate in the reconstruction of the Church of Our Lady in Aarschot and, in the process, met Céline Milis, the daughter of an innkeeper, with whom he fell in love. Francois, always enterprising, saw the many works needed to rebuild Aarschot after the war damage.

At first he focused on making tombstones for fallen soldiers. Requests soon followed from civilians who also wanted such beautiful headstones instead of simple iron crosses.

Under the leadership of his son Albert, the company grew into one of the largest of its kind. In 1966, it moved to its current location in the industrial park. Francois Renier of the third generation continued the growth, including buying a quarry in Sprimont in 1975, followed by the purchase of a second quarry in Vinalmont in 2015.

Today, Evelien and Stijn Renier, the fourth generation, are active in the company, with support for the first time from a non-family CEO, Frank Oosterlinck.
